Sharing a study
Send a homiletic or word study as a link, by AirDrop or with a QR code, and add one someone sent you.
You can share a homiletic or word study as a link. Anyone can open it in a web browser, and people with Homiletics can save their own copy in the app.
How share links work
The whole study is packed into the link itself. It isn’t uploaded to a Homiletics server, and our website never receives it. Your browser unpacks it right on the page.
Two things to keep in mind:
- Anyone with the link can read the study. Share it the way you’d share the words themselves.
- Very long studies make long links. Most apps handle them fine, but if a link gets cut off, share a PDF instead.
Share a link
- Open the homiletic or word study.
- Tap ⋮, then Share link.
- Pick an app (Messages, email, WhatsApp, your group chat), or copy the link.
The person you send it to sees the study in the same colour-coded steps you use, with buttons to Print it or Open in Homiletics.
AirDrop to someone nearby
On iPhone, iPad or Mac, choose AirDrop from the share sheet after tapping Share link, then pick the person’s device. If they have Homiletics, the study opens in the app. If not, it opens in their browser.
Show a QR code
Sitting together in class? Show a QR code instead:
- Open the study, tap ⋮, then QR code.
- Let the other person point their phone’s camera at your screen.
- They tap the link that appears to open the study.
Add a study someone shared with you
If you have Homiletics: tap the link. It opens in the app. On the web page, you can also tap Open in Homiletics.
If the link doesn’t open the app (some apps open links in their own browser), copy the link, then in Homiletics choose Import from link and paste it.
Importing always makes a new copy in your studies. It never changes or replaces anything you’ve already written, so feel free to edit it and make it your own.
Don’t have the app yet? You can read and print the study in your browser. Download Homiletics to save a copy.
Links from a newer version
If someone shares a study from a newer version of Homiletics, you may see a message asking you to update. Update the app from your app store, then open the link again.
